How Do You Actually Calculate Per-Frame Cost on a Cloud Render Farm?

Most farms quote hourly rates, which is useless if you don’t know how long your frames take. Here’s how I calculate it: render 10 test frames, note the total time, divide by 10 to get your average seconds-per-frame. Then multiply by your total frame count, convert to hours, and multiply by the farm’s hourly rate.

For my 300-frame MoGraph test on iRender: average 5.6 seconds/frame × 300 = 1,680 seconds = 28 minutes. At $8.20/hour, that’s $3.80 of pure render time.
